The investigations and results of all patients who undergo triple assessment are reviewed weekly by members of the Multi-Disciplinary Breast Team. This exceeds the internationally acknowledged standards, as we consider that all patients with a breast problem requiring investigation, should receive the same standard of care as patients with a cancer diagnosis and be formally reviewed by a specialist team ensuring that they have the benefit of the range of expert advice available, at The London Breast Clinic, required for high quality care.
Although recommendations for the patient’s future treatment are made by the team based upon the clinical, radiological and pathological findings the final decision on the way forward is always made by the patient in discussion with their Consultant.
The Multi-Disciplinary way of working ensures that care is seamless and can be provided without delay. The meetings permit detailed information about the care of each individual patient to be shared amongst the clinicians involved in their care but also assist with audit purposes to benefit future patient care.
